Oriental Noodles

The Broth

I am not quite sure how to handle the broth yet.

There are two options.

  1. I can put a bullion cube or two in with the water as I cook the noodles. Instead of a bullion cube you can use powdered broth mix, which is just the same stuff. This seems to allow the noodles to absorb the flavor as they cook
  2. You can add the bullion cube or powdered broth mix to the noodles after they are done cooking, and after you have drained the excess water.

I tried this once and the noodles didn't seem to absorb the flavor.

Lily Bean Thread Noodles
Green Bean Pea Noodles
Bun Tau Noodles
Cellophane Noodles
Glass Noodles
Mung Bean Noodles

I cooked these noodles for 4 to 6 minutes in the microwave oven.

After cooking I drained the water.

They are tiny clear thin noodles when you are done cooking them.

They are pretty bland, but if you add some chicken or other bullion cube flavor they taste pretty good.

Rice Noodles
Vermicelli Rice Noodles
Wai Wai Instant Rice Noodles

You don't even have to cook these noodles.

The instructions say to place them in cool or warm water for 2 minutes and then drain.
