Chili Habanero

At the time I discovered Chili Habaneros they were the hottest chile peppers in the world. Since then a couple peppers have claimed to be hotter, but I have not kept track of all them. I think Chile Habaneros are also called Scotch Bonnet Peppers.

Oddly when it comes to chile peppers a smaller pepper means a much hotter pepper. This rule of thumb isn’t true when it comes to chili habanero peppers. Chile habanero peppers are rather large, maybe an inch long and half to three fourths of an inch in diameter.

I don’t use chile habanero peppers because I live in Arizona and chile tepin peppers are priced much cheaper and almost as hot. Chile tepins are the third hottest pepper in the world.

Also chile habaneros are almost always sold fresh which I don’t like. I like the dried chile tepin peppers because I can grind them up into a powder.

Several times I have eaten a chile habanero pepper. Each time I micro-waved a baked potato, chopped up the chile habanero pepper and mixed it with the potato.

Despite being labeled the worlds hottest pepper the food was still edible and wasn’t any spicier then other food I eat.
