At the time I discovered Chili Habaneros they were the hottest chile peppers in the world. Since then a couple peppers have claimed to be hotter, but I have not kept track of all them. I think Chile Habaneros are also called Scotch Bonnet Peppers.
Oddly when it comes to chile peppers a smaller pepper means a much hotter pepper. This rule of thumb isnít true when it comes to chili habanero peppers. Chile habanero peppers are rather large, maybe an inch long and half to three fourths of an inch in diameter.
Also chile habaneros are almost always sold fresh which I donít like. I like the dried chile tepin peppers because I can grind them up into a powder.
Several times I have eaten a chile habanero pepper. Each time I micro-waved a baked potato, chopped up the chile habanero pepper and mixed it with the potato.
Despite being labeled the worlds hottest pepper the food was still edible and wasnít any spicier then other food I eat.
